Experience different cultures and contexts
While students will be in the urban areas all during the year the focus is not on mere social justice but how to reach and disciple the many people who live in these cities.
Sharing your faith in an urban context
Students will spend time in the Word, learning and memorizing Scripture and learning how to communicate truth and connect in love with other people.
Hands-on ministry training
Most people learn best by doing. By engaging in hands-on ministry, students will learn to not only love others but use words in ministering others.

How much does the gap year cost?
The cost of the gap year program is $9,900 per student
What does the cost include?
The cost includes food, travel, lodging, and training. No financial aid is available and students will not be able to have employment due to the travel and requirements during the year. Plans for the year conclude the third week of July 2020 at the Momentum Youth Conference.
Where do students stay?
During the program, students will live in the safe, clean, and attractive facilities of Urban Hope Philadelphia.
Is there college credit available?
The gap year program coincides with the fully-accredited program at Grace College in Winona Lake, IN. Those in the gap year will learn and live alongside other college students for one semester as part of the Urban Studies Program. Academic credit may be given for this program depending on the educational institution, the level of involvement and the learning experiences.

Will students be home for breaks and holidays?
The year begins August 19, 2019, with breaks for holidays. The gap year concludes in the third week of July 2020.
What about insurance?
It is expected that each student will carry his/her own health insurance and have a passport.
